Jotitos Muertos- Amor Prohibido 

As a little boy I fantasized being in love but as I heard my father stating if he’d have a joto son he’d kill ‘em, love became pain. Love became forbidden for some time in my life. A suffocating loneliness overtook my closeted existence. At one point I felt the pain that I knew would drive someone to end it all, but here I am today. Strong and proud, orgulloso to be a Joto; in love with a man and now loving my fantasy. This piece is dedicated to the Muertitos in my LGBTQ+ community who couldn’t withstand society’s norms and decided to end their life. It is also dedicated to those lives that have been victims of religious, machismo, or other heteronormative, and inhumane beliefs. Today on el Dia De Los Muertos bailamos y movemos el esqueleto al ritmo de Selena’s “Amor Prohibido” and we celebrate our ability to love who we love ❤️ 💀🌺💀❤️
