Our work is rooted in community
ART TRANSFORMS LIVES, AND COMMUNITIES…
Liberated together. We work to uplift BIPoC communities and bring them resources to enrich their lives, form partnerships, and find creative ways to serve any need that may be identified. We believe sharing our passions, our skillset, and working together we can create a more prosperous community.
CURRENT COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We planted our seeds in East Palo Alto in 2016. Immediately we began a partnership with East Palo Alto Academy and established a strong relationship with their Performing Arts and Creative Writing Teacher, Mr. Andy Robinson. Since then, we have worked together on envisioning stronger performances for our community where youth would dive deeper into the craft of being a performing artists. AAV has supported youth with acting workshops, technical support on productions, has provided visual backdrops, and engaged the community in the process and decision making. To date, they continue to support them with their yearly SHINE Showcase, which is in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula.
Partnerships with our community are central to our mission. We believe engaging our community in artistic experiences allows space for necessary dialogue. We learn about each other and find creative ways to respond to our community needs.
Local businesses are transformed with visual storytelling, non-profits are supported with artistic services, and school productions are elevated with technical and scenic support; we are open to working with our community so we can all experience the amazing impact arts have in our life.
