“Turn my sorrow into treasured gold”

Stay Gold, I once heard 

I heard it coming from a former student of mine, passed down from her abuelo

He’d say, “Stay Gold”

That echoed in her heart and brought tears she wished drowned her She wanted to kill herself, but somehow she needed to remain Gold and push through the toughest days

Broken home 

Upside down world

And nobody there, just haunting emotions frolicking through the night, in your empty cold room 

She put up a front, made everything seem like shit was alright but somehow I could see her drowning in agony

I could see it in her eyes, I’ve seen heavy eyes like hers

Art brought us together, we stitched stories filled with sorrow and turned them into gold 

We learned to turn our sorrow into treasured gold and let the world have it, we wrote, “Stay Gold” back in 2017.

Today as I paint Adele and listen to her music, these memories pour from my soul and I take joy in what words and expression can do, they can heal the most broken human and learn to turn their sorrow into treasured gold
